GEZE UK is set to sponsor yet another prestigious Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) Awards Dinner, due to take place at The Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh, on 30 May.
This will be the fifth consecutive year that GEZE UK has sponsored the event, supporting the showcasing of the best of Scottish architecture.
A total of 82 entries have now been shortlisted to 19 projects which must go head-to-head in order to win accolades for architectural achievement. They include projects as diverse as the legendary Glasgow tearooms, Mackintosh at the Willow, Perth Theatre, Hendrick’s Gin Palace, Girvan and The Black House, Isle of Skye. You can view the full shortlist here.
Andy Howland, GEZE UK sales and marketing director, comments: “It is always an honour to be part of the RIAS Awards which presents an eclectic range of projects within a variety of landscapes and created to accommodate very different requirements. The categories will no doubt be hotly contested and we are delighted to again be sponsoring the awards dinner where we shall see which of the projects claim victory.”
The 2019 Awards will be decided by an esteemed panel of judges including Prof. John Cole CBE Hon FRIAS (Chair), Joanna van Heyningen OBE RIBA, van Heyningen and Haward Architects (representing the Royal Institute of British Architects), Catriona Hill from CH Architecture and Peter McCaughey, WAVEparticle.
President of the RIAS, Robin Webster OBE, adds: “This year’s judges were struck by the continuing high standard of submissions and found shortlisting very difficult indeed. This is an impressive list of buildings that all show the ambitious level of excellence that architects and their clients can achieve, and I hope that communities, government and local authorities, along with everyone else who needs to procure buildings will look at these examples and ensure that their ambitions match them. Our awards celebrate the very best that is being built in Scotland.”
