CUPA PIZARRAS had its first slate training and CPD day in Scotland

Last month saw CUPA PIZARRAS host its first slate training and CPD day, aimed at providing clients with in-depth product knowledge about CUPA’s natural slates.

Held in Scotland on the 29th April 2019, the training day was run by CUPA’s Specification and Commercial Manager, Allan Liddell. 

The training was divided into two parts. On the one hand, a practical training on selecting and grading, measuring the roof pitch, checking the headlap and fixing the slates onto a training rig. On the other hand, a RIBA approved CPD seminar which focuses on the characteristics and benefits of natural slate and its production process. This theorical part also covered design specification, slate’s sustainability and a selection of case studies.

During the training part, the attendees worked with CUPA HEAVY 3, the brand’s bestselling slate in Scotland. This natural roofing slate stands out for its extra thickness and weight, which gives it the strength to withstand Scottish weather.

Surveying Solutions Ltd were the first to attend this fantastic training session. Allan Liddell comments: “By arming architects with more in-depth knowledge of slate and installation of the product, architects will be able to prevent problems onsite easily, as they will be able to identify slate that has not been graded properly or any incorrect installations.”
