  • 22 Jul 2019

dormakaba UK acquired Chartwell Doors and Security Solutions Ltd on 1st August 2018, with the full merger completed on 1st July 2019.

This will see dormakaba UK extend its product offering and assist its growth and expansion into new sectors.

Chartwell Doors and Security Solutions Ltd specialises in automatic, security and fabrication solutions. Its product offering ranges from automatic and manual doors, and gates and barriers to bollards and roller shutters – which will complement dormakaba UK’s existing service offering.

The acquisition will provide an opportunity for dormakaba UK to achieve greater customer reach.

Paul Wright, Regional Service Director at dormakaba UK, commented: “I’m really pleased with how well our businesses have interacted over this successful process and I am delighted to welcome Chartwell Doors into our Service organisation.

“This exciting news, with its clear customer first attitude and reputation, will further strengthen us in our Service Delivery whilst seeing us continue with profitable growth.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone from Chartwell Doors into our business and continuing our journey over the new financial year.”

The acquisition demonstrates dormakaba’s commitment to providing its customers with quality access solutions, and shows its ambition to become the trusted industry leader.

A broader range of customers will be able to access the full, combined product range from both dormakaba UK and Chartwell Doors and Security Solutions Ltd from the 1st July 2019.

The fabrication and service branch of dormakaba UK will be located at the Fareham site.

Ken Norish, MD of Chartwell Doors and Security Solutions Ltd, commented: “Chartwell Doors has grown strongly over the past 10 years – but the business had reached a natural limit that couldn’t be exceeded without external investment.

“Through the acquisition, dormakaba will provide access to an additional customer base, a much broader pool of engineers and the back-office systems we need to ensure efficiency.

“This is an exciting new horizon and I’m looking forward to working together to achieve continued success in our sector.”
