Crown Paints was recently responsible for a colourful new fixture in Glastonbury’s The Park field this year, in the form of a large sitting rainbow sculpture.
The Lancashire-based paint manufacturer, donated more than 50 litres of its Crown Trade Matt Vinyl and Sadolin Outdoor Varnish Satin paints in each colour of the rainbow to complete the sculpture.
UK contemporary artist Paul Insect designed the sculpture for Glastonbury, and a team of engineers and carpenters spent three weeks bringing Paul’s six metre tall vision to life.
Artists often rely on donations, which is where Crown Paints stepped in by specifying and providing paint for Paul Insect’s sculpture. Thanks to the wide range of colours available across the Crown Trade and Sadolin product ranges, the company was able to supply the paint to match colour samples sent by Paul.
Simon Vaughan, director at Creative Giants, comments: “It was awesome to partner with Crown Paints and you can see from all the photos across Twitter that the rainbow ‘deckchair’ really was one of the highlights of the weekend. We couldn’t have done it without this amazing support for our creative community.”
Josie Cawdry, corporate communications executive at Crown Paints, adds: “We’re always looking for ways to contribute to art and community projects through donating our paint, so when we were contacted about the Glastonbury Rainbow sculpture, we were more than happy to supply the paint needed for the job.”
