Bull’s Cygnus alarm system protects Canary Wharf’s latest residential space

  • 26 Jul 2019

Bull Products has announced that it is protecting the construction of Canary Wharf’s new district, Wood Wharf.

The Wood Wharf development will extend the existing Canary Wharf Estate and provide over 3,300 new homes, nearly 2 million sqft of high-quality commercial office space, and 490,000 sqft of shops, restaurants and community spaces.

Canary Wharf Contractors chose Bull Products to supply and install Cygnus fire alarms on the Wood Wharf project up until completion in 2023.

As well as installing Cygnus Fire Call Point alarms and Cygnus smoke and heat detectors, Cygnus Interface Alarm Units have been installed in the basements to monitor wet riser pumps.

Wet riser pumps, if not monitored, could cause unnecessary flooding and damage; therefore, an alarm system that warns authorities of wet riser activation is essential. In the event of the pumps being activated, the Cygnus alarms are triggered and security will be notified immediately.

Bradley Markham, Director at Bull Products, comments: “Our continued involvement during the construction of Wood Wharf proves the value of the Cygnus alarm system. The strong wireless mesh network means that the site has a dependable alarm system that is suitable for construction environments where a reliable fire safety system is required.”
