Stannah secures local partnership with Bristol City Council

  • 31 Jul 2019

Stannah recently won a six-year contract to maintain a lift portfolio of 146 lifts in 88 housing blocks for Bristol City Council (BCC).

With a comprehensive housing stock and many, many residents relying on lifts to access their homes every day, BCC recently required a reliable local partner to ensure the lifts perform well. This is where Bristol-based Stannah Lift Services came in, having previously engaged with the council on some essential lift refurbishment work in local housing and proving their worth through reliable, friendly and efficient work.

Stannah’s Bristol Branch maintains, repairs, refurbishes and replaces lift products right across South West England and South Wales. They also provide 24/7 emergency breakdown cover 365 days of the year.

Dan White, Stannah’s South West and South Wales branch manager, comments: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured this contract and look forward to a closer working relationship with BCC. The previous preferred supplier had been with the Council for 18 years. At Stannah, we celebrated our 150th anniversary in 2017, so longevity is our middle name. Our Bristol engineering team has a wealth of experience and expertise to enhance the Council’s housing lift portfolio. Our branch also manages lift stock at other significant Bristol landmarks, including the University of Bristol, all our own lifts at the marvellous SS Great Britain visitor attraction, all lifts at Bristol airport, all Network Rail lifts in our region and the maintenance lifts on the magnificent Severn Bridge.”

Nigel Robbins, (Project Engineer Lifts) at BCC adds: “The Stannah team based in Bristol has greatly impressed me with the quality and expertise of their lift services, particularly in housing. They schedule their work with meticulous attention to our residents’ needs and the health and safety of everyone using or working on their equipment. After completing several lift refurbishments in our residential housing buildings, they have proved the value of their services. They provide best and honest advice to help us maximise the performance of each lift in our portfolio. We strive to keep a local supply chain and Stannah is a perfect fit. We look forward to a long, cost-effective partnership that delivers the best value to our Bristol residents.”
