EverEdge are looking at the 2020s as being an opportunity to improve its green credentials, whilst also exploring what the company has done in the last decade.
– Cut back hugely on the amount of plastic it uses by stripping away plastic pallet wrap for its stored pallets and the nylon strapping used to use to seal closed the packs of edging.
– Ensured UK supply of the company’s entire range of materials and packaging, except for the nuts and bolts which still come from China. EverEdge will investigate whether it can source nuts and bolts in the UK.
– Looked at delivering all pallets on a groupage system, as opposed to dedicated vehicles.
– Continued to source steel from recycled material as much as possible.
EverEdge is dedicated throughout the next decade to continue to find ways to be greener, including looking at eliminating pallet wrap completely.
In doing this, it will search for a more environmentally friendly way of protecting goods in transit, with the plan being to look at all of its packaging to see if any improvements can be made in the sourcing of all materials.
It also plans to highlight more clearly to customers how and where EverEdge packaging and parts can be recycled.
On a smaller scale, it is looking at what can be done day to day, including switching lights off in the office in the middle of the day when the sun provides all the light needed and being much stricter with the heating controls (within reason).
Some members of staff now cycle into work in the summer months and car pool when possible.
Whilst EverEdge admits that the overall impact it has on the environment is relatively small, it stresses that this does not mean there is no obligation to do all it can to help protect our beautiful planet.
