Top five things to do when self-isolating: a Saint-Gobain Weber article

  • 1 Apr 2020

With many people currently not in a position where they can work from home, self-isolating for 7 to 14 days could well become tiresome, with the possibility of the four walls starting to feel somewhat smaller – here are a few ideas from Saint-Gobain Weber to help with this.

1) Learn a new skill

With YouTube videos available to educate on just about anything, take the opportunity to learn something new…

How about a musical instrument? Ukuleles are cheap to purchase and reasonably easy to learn

Learn a new language – a lot of people will need a holiday after this passes, so maybe learn some Spanish in preparation for a break to the Costa del Sol.  Another skill to consider is perhaps trying learning British Sign Language.

Saint-Gobain Weber offer lots of informative how-to videos. Renderers could benefit from learning more about Weber’s concrete repair products to make essential repairs to old buildings before coating with weberpral M.

Having this time at home is the perfect opportunity for renderers to learn how to apply floor screed and expand their range of services.

2) Get creative

Let the creative juices run! Ever considered taking up painting? Maybe a little bit of self-reflection with a self-portrait? The entries for the Portrait Artist of Year is now closed, but Landscape Artist of the Year is open for entries so get practising.

To take advantage of practical skills, try mosaic tile art. Design table tops or get some fresh air and take it to the garden. Whatever the project – Weber tile adhesives, grouts and silicones can offer a hand with 18 colours available to add the finishing touches.

3) DIY

If the opportunity arises to refresh the paint on walls or the grout and sealant in a bathroom and kitchen, then give it a go! These are projects that will not take up too much time, while being relatively inexpensive.

Weber’s tile grouts and silicones can tidy up a splash back or shower cubicle and are available in 18 colours to smarten up a space.

4) Safety first

With lots of scary news going around, maybe make a positive from a negative. Learn some first aid and CPR skills and share it with family and friends.  It is so important that children understand basic first aid skills, which are currently not on the education curriculum.

5) Grow your business

There is a large amount of people that are unable to earn money for their businesses at the moment. Now is the right time to look into apps and services that can be used to help to improve websites. There are many different help tools such as Squarespace and Wix
