A quintet of new distributors from the Headlam Group have signed up to the Recofloor take-back scheme, creating more opportunities for contractors and fitters in the Midlands and East of England to divert their waste vinyl flooring from landfill.
The new drop-off sites are located at four Garrard Waters sites in Coventry, Leicester, Northampton and Peterborough, and Mytton Flooring, Norwich.
Founded by leading flooring manufacturers Polyflor and Altro in 2009, Recofloor accepts luxury vinyl tiles (LVT), smooth vinyl and safety vinyl offcuts, loose lay and roll ends, as well as uplifted smooth vinyl for recycling back into new products.
Carla Eslava, Recofloor Scheme Manager, commented: “These drop-off sites definitely add value to the network, bringing the total to eight now in the Midlands. This is great news for contractors and fitters giving them more local options to deposit their waste vinyl flooring for recycling and increase the diversion of material from landfill.”
Being operational from late summer, all the new sites received guidance and support from the Recofloor team on how the scheme operates and also received a welcome pack, collection bags and bins to ensure the scheme launched successfully.
Welcoming their participation in Recofloor, Richard Hurlston, Branch Manager at Garrard Waters, Coventry, said he is pleased to offer an additional service to his customers.
“We support the aims of Recofloor in diverting material from landfill and being able to offer this facility will help to reduce disposal costs for our contractors and fitters,” he said.
“My next steps are to visit customers and further build awareness of the Recofloor scheme and its sustainable advantages for their businesses.”
Carla added: “The addition of these five new Headlam Group sites means we now have 59 distributors participating in the Recofloor scheme and you can find the closest one to you by visiting our website.”
