The Metal Cladding & Roofing Manufacturers Association (MCRMA) has added two new CPD modules to its online CPD programme, which is available to anyone seeking to develop their knowledge and skills within the metal building envelope sector.

The CPD module ‘Definition of cladding within the construction sector’ sets out to define the different meanings for the word cladding when used to describe products, materials and systems for a wall within construction projects and to ensure that the term is used in the correct context.

The CPD covers single skin, built-up assemblies, metal rainscreen façade systems and sandwich panels.

The second CPD, ‘Installed tolerances: best practice’, is designed to make the cladding sub-contractor aware of the relevant tolerances allowed in the fabrication and erection of the main steel frame.

It is important the installation and deflection criteria are set at the design stage and implemented at the construction stage, to ensure all elements of the construction perform as expected and also that the interface, interaction and fit between components and systems meet with expectations.

There are now 14 approved CPDs available on the MCRMA website; the course material is studied offline with an online assessment component to verify knowledge.

The modules represent an anticipated 30 – 120 minutes of professional development, and following successful completion of the CPD, a certificate is available for immediate download. All modules have been accredited by the CPD Certification Service.
