Pop Up Power: Adding a flexible power dimension at Manchester’s new Symphony Park

  • 19 May 2021

Retractable power units from Pop Up Power Supplies® look set to play an important role in ensuring Manchester’s exciting new city centre green space is professionally equipped and ready to host all kinds of outdoor events when it opens this summer.

Symphony Park is part of the extensive Circle Square mixed-use development – a joint venture by Bruntwood SciTech and Vita Group. It will be Manchester’s first new park to be built since Victorian times.

Around football pitch-sized, the park will feature 187 semi-mature trees and over 1,000 plants and stepped space for seating.

The need for outdoor enjoyment amidst the pandemic

As the appetite for enjoying the great outdoors grows ever stronger, the park is hotly anticipated. The anticipation is for it to be a popular facility for city centre residents, workers, visitors and tourists.

The beautifully landscaped urban oasis has been designed for socialising, entertaining, relaxing and exploring. This brief will be met in part by the easy availability of power on-demand through Pop Up Power service units.

Pop Up Power

Their installation will ensure specific areas of the park can host live events, without the need to hire temporary generators.

The units provide plug-in power sockets in a unit which is raised up from the ground when needed, and simply lowered back into place when the event is over.

This gives Symphony Park’s facilities managers great flexibility in how their outdoor spaces can be used, whether it is for a music performance or a pop-up food market.

Pop Up Power Units

The park will feature six retractable, pop up power units across the spaces. Three PUPS01 units which provide total power of 125 amps in a single or 3 phase incoming supply, and three of the smaller PUPS05 units.

These popular units can be configured to suit every project and are widely used in a range of outdoor applications.

From shopping centres and market places to universities and heritage attractions, they will be ideal.

PUPS01 and PUPS05 are two options with the retractable, pop up service units range. This is complemented by Pop Up Power Supplies’ ranges of in-ground service units and bollards with power access.
