Recofloor launches new website to support members and expand scheme use

Recofloor, the vinyl flooring take-back scheme founded by flooring manufacturers Altro and Polyflor, launches a new website offering improved information for both current and prospective scheme members and the wider industry.

Popular with contractors and distributors alike, Recofloor provides a cost effective and sustainable disposal option for specified installation offcuts and uplifted commercial vinyl flooring. The scheme operates across the UK and in Northern Ireland, with vinyl used either for new flooring or for traffic management products.

What’s new

The new website combines a fresh look and feel with clear explanations, showing how everyone from vinyl fitters and contractors to distributors as well as specifiers and project managers can play their part in making the sector more sustainable.

Member needs have been a priority within the redesign.

Carla Eslava, scheme manager, explains: “We recognised that as the scheme had grown and matured, it was time to develop the website as a more effective member resource.

“We’ve introduced, for example, a specific member resources section grouping together all the information members might be looking for. This section makes it easy for members to find forms to order bins, bags and collections and to check operational details such as material specifications.

“There’s also a Book a Visit or trade event page for members wanting us to visit their premises to introduce or promote the scheme. On top of this, we’ve added handy hints on topics such as how to care for Recofloor bins and pack roll-ends.”

Two important features have been retained from the earlier website. Firstly, the cost calculator. This is an online tool enabling participants to check how much they will save by using Recofloor rather than taking the vinyl to landfill.

Secondly, the drop-off sites finder map, which shows where contractors and fitters who join the scheme can dispose of day-to-day quantities of vinyl at no charge at participating distributor premises.

For those new to Recofloor, step-by-step ‘How the scheme works’ guidance explains how simple it is to get set up and start benefitting from lower disposal costs and improved green credentials.

Scheme success stories

Case studies then give practical examples of member successes. Studies include stories of contractors using the scheme for construction projects across various sectors, including education, health and care, retail and housing. Other case studies show how distributors setting up drop-off points are strengthening relationships with trade customers thanks to the benefits the drop-off points offer.

Since launch in 2009, Recofloor has diverted nearly 6,000 tonnes of vinyl flooring and become the industry leader in vinyl take back. It has won multiple awards and received wide recognition across the industry, including from VinylPlus, the European PVC industry sustainability programme.

Founders Altro and Polyflor continue to fund the scheme as part of a wider push to make vinyl flooring a responsible flooring choice across the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, social, and economic.
