Digital Construction Week (DCW) – Europe’s leading innovation and technology event for the built environment – has launched its free-to-attend programme in the lead up to its return to ExCeL London from 18-19 May 2022.
A diverse line-up of thought-leaders will deliver 200+ CPD-accredited sessions, spanning automation, digital twins, drones, augmented reality, and information management, as well as sustainability, and inclusivity. Plus, visitors can take advantage of networking, expert Q&A, and for the first time, an open mic session.
Read on for just a few of the highlights at this year’s show.
The Information Management Stage will look at the shift from Building Information Modelling (BIM) and all the benefits of Information Management. Sessions will explore product data, digital twins, net zero, interoperability, and the ‘golden thread’.
In Automation and data driven delivery in major infrastructure construction, Victoria Jones, Digital Engineering Lead for Bylor Joint Venture, will present the work of the digital engineering team at Hinkley Point C – the largest and most complex construction project in Europe.
While Scaling down ISO19650 for smaller highway projects – the challenges and the benefits will see Philip Reid, Digital Construction Manager for Eurovia Infrastructure Limited, explain how the international standard can be applied to small projects to yield big benefits.
Plus, Julia Adler, Senior BIM Senior for Mace Group, will demonstrate how to digitalise information in Forget PDF: Current and future state of the Information Management process for clients.
Running alongside the Information Management Stage, the Information Management Exchange will provide a space at the show for visitors to network with each other and gain bespoke advice from industry leaders via ‘In conversation with…’ and ‘Ask the expert’ sessions. Plus, for the first time, Digital Construction Week will host an Open mic for visitors to share opinions and musings, live on stage.
And not to be missed, Anne Kemp and Dan Rossiter from the UK BIM Framework strategy board will present an overview of the UK BIM Framework, followed by an insightful discussion with key collaborators.
The Innovation Stage (sponsored by Sir Robert McAlpine & Enterprise Ireland) will showcase ambitious ideas and daring projects. In How augmented reality supports passenger orientation and maintenance employees, Melissa Bodtländer (Digital Strategy and Innovation Consultant) and Julia Lotzow (AR Consultant and Project Manager) from DB Systel GmbH will share their vision of how AR can upgrade experiences for people travelling through and working in train stations.
Delving further, Bryden Wood board director Phil Langley will present How we designed a railway in an hour (and more besides), demonstrating software solutions created by Bryden Wood’s award-winning Creative Technologies team.
In addition, Shervin Yousefzadeh, Digital Construction Manager for BAM Nuttall, will present How mega projects can accelerate digital transformation in construction. Attendees will gain insights into the Transpennine Route Upgrade West project (TRUwest), from 4D detailed logistics planning and 360◦ visualisations to the ‘BIM Cave’.
At the Transformation Hub, GPE Innovation Manager, Ella Walter, will describe how GPE, one of London’s leading developers and real estate owners, harnesses tech to create sustainable spaces in How construction technology is helping developers future proof their assets – GPE’s secret sauce!
And Real life legal issues in digitisation will be addressed by Andrew Croft, Partner of Beale & Co, and Alice Brooks, Senior Legal Counsel – Digital, IT Services, Data Compliance and Global Security for Atkins. Together they will clarify legal growing pains during digital development.
In the Geospatial Theatre, Grace Hammond (Account Manager) and Jon White (Technical Solutions Engineer) for Vantage UAV will present Smarter asset management: Using drone technology to streamline your maintenance & repairs.
Additionally, Turner and Townsend Associate Directors, Mike Hudson and Tim Hartshorne, along with Dan Da Silva, Head of International Sales for Zutec, will share their successful collaboration in DIY digital twin – Sometimes the best way to figure out what you need is to do it yourself!
An inspiring agenda is set for the People & Change Theatre, including Breaking the barriers of diversity and inclusion in the construction industry, hosted by BSI Group’s Kate Field (Global Head of Health, Safety, and Wellbeing) and Emilia Cardamone (Programme Manager, Digital Construction).
Plus, Hadi Moztarzadeh, Director of Research and Innovation – Science and Engineering for the University of Salford, will champion Digital skills to transform construction and built environment.
