Timber based acoustic insulation products from Hush Acoustics can be used with confidence in building specifications where a high sustainability rating is sought thanks to the company’s FSC certification.
The internationally recognised Forest Stewardship Council certification demonstrates that the wood and timber products used in the manufacture of all Hush Acoustics sound reduction products originates from sources which are independently audited to ensure they meet a number of sustainability criteria.
It means that virgin timber or wood fibres used in Hush products only come from FSC forests that are managed in a way that is environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable.
Hush Acoustics timber-based products now carry the FSC Mix logo, including the UK’s most specified acoustic floating floor panel, Hush-Panel 28 and its acoustic battens.
The company’s sustainability strategy, however, goes much further than its timber supply chain, extending into the use of post-consumer recycled materials for its resilient products and using metal for the manufacture of its resilient bars which is easy to recycle at the end of its life. Hush Acoustics’ factory is also continuously monitored and reviewed to ensure process waste is minimised and energy efficiency optimised.
Rob Crampton, MD of Hush Acoustics, says: “Timber has the dual benefit of being a highly sustainable building material and having excellent acoustic properties in the right applications.
“But to ensure our customers have transparency regarding sustainability along their supply chain, we felt it was important to provide independent verification of our timber sourcing – that’s why we’ve invested in creating a portfolio which uses only FSC certified timber.”
The FSC scheme aims to give specifiers and end-users a third party assurance for their choice of timber products. When a product carries the FSC logo, it is a mark that it can be specified with the knowledge that the forests it originates from will be alive for generations to come.
Hush Acoustics has been manufacturing high performance acoustic insulation for more than 30 years. Its solutions include an extensive range of fully tested acoustic systems which can be applied with confidence to all kinds of new build, refurbishment and material change of use projects.
The company’s wealth of experience and technical knowledge helps specifiers, installers and end users achieve a building design that will not only meet the sound reduction standards demanded by the building regulations, but go a step further and optimise acoustic comfort inside buildings and homes.
