New Part L Guide available at Knauf Insulation’s Housebuilders Hub

  • 7 Nov 2023

To help housebuilders, architects, and contractors keep up-to-speed with changes, Knauf Insulation has launched an updated edition of its Part L Guide.

The housebuilding industry has experienced a lot of change in the last two years, particularly in the area of energy efficiency. The updated Part L (Conservation of fuel and power) Building Regulations for England came into full force this June and there’s a lot to adapt to. For example, new homes must now produce 31% less operational carbon emissions and meet tighter fabric efficiency standards. Housebuilders are also required to complete a new Building Regulations England Part L (BREL) report, providing photo evidence of thermal continuity and quality of insulation.

Knauf Insulation’s guide includes key information on Part L, example whole-house recipes for compliance*, and advice on U-value and Psi-value calculations. This edition also looks at the bigger regulatory picture, with handy infographics on Parts B and O, as well as insights into upcoming regulations, like the Future Homes Standard.

Neil Hargreaves, Managing Director for Knauf Insulation Northern Europe, says: “I hope this guide will be a valuable tool, not only for achieving compliance, but in raising the bar for quality and performance across the housebuilding sector.”

The Housebuilders Hub

The updated Part L Guide is a recent addition to Knauf Insulation’s online Housebuilders Hub, where industry professionals can find free tools and guidance on Part L and the wider housebuilding sector.

The Hub is also home to a U-value calculator, Psi-value calculator, product information, and a range of useful Q&As on topics like energy efficiencyfire safety, and sustainability. It is free to access, and visitors have the option to subscribe for notifications when new tools and resources are added.
