The Automatic Door Suppliers Association (ADSA) is sponsoring the best in electronic product design and innovation at the AI Specification Awards for a second time.
The biennial even is organised by the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) in conjunction with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and will take place in April 2024.
ADSA is encouraging manufacturers of entrance solutions – automatic doors, turnstiles, fast lanes and related products – to enter the category before the cut-off date on 1 December 2023.
The Product Design and Innovation – Electronic Award 2022 was won by Strand Technologies for its Virtual Engineer product, a technology solution for the control and diagnostics of automatic doors, gates and barriers.
The category celebrates ‘products which use new design concepts to improve product solutions’. It is open to ‘any new products which utilise electronics within the context of architectural ironmongery’.
To enter, projects or products must have been completed or released on the market between 1 October 2021 and 30 September 2023.
Each category will have a first, second and third placing. The judges will also decide on an overall ‘Winner of Winners’. Entries should be submitted online at www.aispecificationawards.co.uk
Ken Price, Managing Director of ADSA, says: “We are delighted to once again sponsor the Product Design and Innovation – Electronic Award.
“The nature of our industry lends itself to practical problem-solving utilising electronic engineering and design application. Innovation within the industry became very prevalent during the COVID crisis when existing products were adapted and new products created to address national requirements.
“We are now at a stage where we are able to move on from this, applying that same enterprising spirit to improve building flow and management.”
