Continuing to plan for the future, Marmox (UK) Ltd has strengthened its board by promoting its current Finance Manager to the newly created post of Finance Director with immediate effect. The move follows the announcement that company founders Harry and Anne Parsons are preparing to take a less active role in running the company.
Having been at the company since 2014, Richard Kent-Smith previously worked for a firm of chartered accountants where he was involved for some years in providing professional services, regularly at Marmox’s premises, before the company created the position of Finance Manager in order to recruit him as a member of staff: a position where he has successfully applied his people skills as well as his numerical proficiency.
He comments: “I have always been financially minded and like to connect with and assist all employees, very much offering data driven guidance and decision making and now, going forwards, it is about providing stability for the company as a board member.
“Interestingly over the last four years since COVID, we have doubled our turnover, partly through organic growth, from drawing on the momentum for change within the industry to improve thermal efficiency in response to Part L and the drive for zero carbon.”
51-year-old Richard is married to Michelle and has two sons, Oliver and Jamie. He has wide interests including photography and astronomy and follows many sports including football and athletics. A dabbler in golf and an enthusiastic Liverpool fan, he has coached at Chatham Town Youth for many years and still follows the Medway club, where his eldest son was a member of the reserve team.
Sarah Viney, Managing Director, comments: “Richard has been successfully filling the role of Finance Manager since 2014 and has proved himself to be a hard-working and dedicated member of the team, who has helped take the company from strength to strength in recent years. I am absolutely delighted to have Richard as a fellow director.
“His skills and knowledge have helped us to grow the company over the last few years and it is great to be able to recognise his invaluable contribution by appointing him as a company director.”
