Hambleside Danelaw Limited are delighted to confirm that Antony Thompson has been appointed Managing Director of the company.
Antony starts his new role on the 1st July 2026, and will initially work alongside current Managing Director Chris Avery, who will transition to the position of Chairman on the Board of Directors from the end of June.
Antony joins Hambleside Danelaw Limited after several years managing a global manufacturing company, which saw increased growth during his tenure. With 15 years leadership experience, and a specific interest in company culture, Antony is well-suited to continuing the work that Chris has dedicated nearly forty years to.
Of his new role, Antony states: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to join Hambleside Danelaw Limited at an exciting time for the organisation.
“Hambleside Danelaw Limited is a highly respected business with a long-standing reputation for quality, technical expertise and innovation across the construction sector, and I’m very excited to be joining such a well-established and successful company.
“I would also like to recognise the significant contribution of Chris Avery, who has led the business as Managing Director for many years. Chris has played an important role in building the strong foundations and reputation that Hambleside Danelaw Limited enjoys today, and I’m very pleased that he will continue to support the business going forward.

50 years of Hambleside Danelaw
2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Hambleside Danelaw Limited, and they have been fortunate to have had a steward such as Chris, who came on board in 1987. Chris worked with recruitment specialist Berwick Partners to handpick his successor.
Reflecting on his time with the company, Chris says: “I would like to welcome Antony as the new Managing Director of Hambleside Danelaw Limited, and I wish him every success.
“Antony brings a wealth of experience as a Managing Director and has strong knowledge of building merchants. I look forward to working with him to continue the company as I remain on the Board of Directors as Chairman.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of the last 40 years, but now it is time to hand over the reins.”
