Property services specialist Bell has won Retrofit Principal Contractor of the Year at the Retrofit Academy Awards for the second year in a row, with the judges praising the company’s ability to successfully deliver the large, complex retrofit programmes essential to the UK’s drive for net zero.

Hosted at The National Retrofit Conference & Expo, the Retrofit Academy Awards is the only one of its kind and celebrates excellence and innovation in the increasingly important retrofit sector. Award categories recognise the assessors, designers, contractors, products and partnerships that make retrofit schemes possible.

In the Retrofit Principal Contractor of the Year category, Bell was selected from among nine shortlisted businesses, including many other industry leaders. Bell’s award submission highlighted its strategic approach to delivering whole-house retrofit projects; innovative use of data, technology and management systems; dedicated resident liaison, tailored support and community engagement; a commitment to sustainable best practice; and consistently high levels of quality. It also detailed the company’s dedication to training and the investment it has made in this area.

Commenting on the award win, Lee Hamill, Chief Revenue Officer at Bell, says:

“We are delighted to have been awarded Retrofit Principal Contractor of the Year again this year. With so many businesses working hard to deliver quality retrofit projects, standing out as the best in this field for a second year in a row is an extraordinary achievement for our team. It reflects the high standards we set and the consistency we deliver at scale.

“Retrofit is no longer a future conversation, it’s a present responsibility. The challenge is significant, but so is the opportunity to drive meaningful, measurable change in how our built environment performs. We’re not just participating in that shift, we’re actively shaping it. Our focus remains clear: deliver at scale, maintain quality without compromise, and play a tangible role in creating a more sustainable world.”
