  • 15 Sep 2015

Air movement specialist Gilberts of Blackpool has appointed Roy Jones as its new Technical Director.

Senior Technical Manager at Gilberts, Roy joined the company 28 years ago as an apprentice under the Youth Training Scheme (YTS), already having a BTEC Mechnical Engineering ONC. He eventually progressed into technical estimating before managing the technical estimating and sales team.

Roy was the first within Filberts to use and apply CAD technology, and has since introduced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling relating to specific product development alongside the room air condition simulations.

He further designed and project-managed the creation of Gilberts’ air movement test centre – one of the most advanced air distribution test laboratories in the UK.

The 45 year-old is one of the air movement industry’s top technical experts, presenting seminars to building services engineering graduates. He also sits on numerous committees for BSI, CIBSE and HEVAC.

Commeting on his appointment, Roy said: “Gilberts is forward-looking in its business opportunities, committed to teamwork, fairness, loyalty, investment in its people- all elements I respect and value.”

Jonathan Haslam, Gilberts Managing Director, added: “Roy’s loyalty, to company and brand is unrivalled. His appointment as Technical Director will build on our strong foundation to help maintain our position as an innovator, with sound commercial and technical knowledge to support our partners in business.”

Roy’s appointment compliments Gilberts’ recruitment of a new Sales Director, in Ian Rogers, and a significant increase in sales and profit in the latest financial year.
