Newton Waterproofing Systems has introduced a fully drained, closed-cell thermal insulation board to its cavity drainage system.
Newton Fibran XPS 500-C is a 50mm deep, slotted thermal insulation board manufactured from rigid extruded polystyrene foam (XPS).
The product is rated at a compression strength of 500 kPa which is higher than the average insulation used in cavity drain systems.
The underside of the insulation boards also feature specifically designed slots which, in combination with the drainage channels of Newton System 500 Cavity Drain Waterproofing, form a fully drained supporting spacer below the floor drainage membrane.
The insulation boards are also capable of permanent submersion in water, due to their high resistance to both water absorption and the diffusion of water vapour.
Furthermore, Fibran XPS 500-C can also be used externally on subterranean structures, both as a protection for Newton System 100 Liquid Waterproofing Membranes, and as a support below Newton’s flagship Type A external waterproofing membrane 403 HydroBond.
Newton Managing Director Warren Muschialli commented that its latest insulation board is a strong indication of the direction in which the company is heading. He said:
“Even for an item as straightforward as a thermal insulation board, at Newton we’ve pushed the boundaries in terms of the sort of product that is available in the UK, whilst still maintaining a very competitive price.”
He continued: “Rather than acting simply as an ancillary product, thanks to its unique drainage channels, Fibran XPS 500-C is a fully-functioning element of the Newton System 500 Cavity Drain Waterproofing, actively contributing towards the process of keeping below ground and earth-retained structures both dry and habitable.”
