When a product meets EU environmental, health protection and safety requirements, it is awarded the CE Mark.
The CE Mark is a declaration that the product meets these requirements and enables it to move freely within the European market.
It became mandatory for all construction products to be CE Marked in July 2013.
A year later, CE Marking for fabricated structural steelwork became compulsory under BS EN 1090, a standard for the execution of steel structures and aluminium structures.
To display the CE Mark, a manufacturer must ensure that its product complies with the technical requirements of a relevant decree.
The products must also be assessed by an approved Notified Body to obtain the mark.
British Spirals and Castings’ architectural products were evaluated by the Steel Construction Certification Scheme, which is an approved Notified Body for structural steel companies.
