MCRMA offer snow load guidance for metal cladding

  • 15 Jan 2015

MCRMA’s ‘Guidance for Snow Loading on Cladding’ is available for all those involved in the cladding specification process to read

Heavy snow has the capacity to cause damage to buildings but a resistance to snow loading can be established if the roof cladding and supporting structure are specified correctly.

MCRMA’s ‘Guidance for Snow Loading on Cladding’ includes snow loading calculations that have been designed to ensure builders follow an accurate specification process.

Following the calculation procedures provided in the document and specifying the cladding and supporting structure accordingly will enable builders to construct secure roofs that can withstand harsh weather conditions and snow loading.

The document also informs on the factors which have an influence on snow loading and makes a distinction between different types of snow load.

MCRMA member companies are offering further guidance on the suitability of materials and systems, whilst additional advice on cladding design and snow loading can be obtained from MCRMA’s featured independent roofing and cladding inspectors.
