Each apprentice was assessed on their workmanship and interaction with the team

The seven apprentices undertook a day of challenges at the Root ‘n Fruit allotment at Trubshawe Cross near Burslem, with each nominee being assessed throughout the course of the day on their level of workmanship, how they interacted with others on site, as well as being put through interviews with company directors.

The winner of the contest will be announced in December, taking away with them a cash prize, the chance to make a donation to a charity of their choice and becoming an ambassador for Novus by representing the company at events.

The Root n’ Fruit allotment is a joint venture between Steelite International and The Prince’s Charities, situated opposite Steelite’s new factory space which was recently completed by Novus.

Stuart Seddon, Novus’ chairman, said: “The final seven apprentices were at the allotments to help prepare them for the future and the work they have done is fantastic. Apprentices are the lifeblood of our business.”
