Novus’ refurbishment team were joined by students from Stoke-on-Trent college as part of its ‘Challenge South Africa’ initiative

A group of five tradespeople from the company spent a fortnight at the Busy Bees Educare nursery in the city’s Parkwood area.

The Parkwood community has been recently affected by and suffered from crime and gang activity.

Three students and a lecturer from Stoke-on-Trent college aided Novus in the refurbishment of the nursery, which is attended by over 200 children.

The team painted the nursery’s exterior as well as its doors and climbing frames.

Togther, the tradespeople and students also worked to replace broken panels and add colourful stencils to the interior walls of the classrooms.

The nursery was given a colourful appearance to create a stimulating environment for the children.

A new veranda was also created to protect the nursery’s pupils from the weather.

After carrying out the refurbishment, Novus donated a range of new toys and sports equipment to the nursery along with a series of football shirts to the Parkwood community.
