Novus’ team have used Passivhaus design principles to achieve the required energy efficiency
The new dwelling is a residential property, which has been designed by a local architect as a home for himself and his family.
It incorporates two buildings, with one accommodating the family’s bedrooms and bathrooms and the other housing their living area and kitchen.
The buildings are joined together by a timber built link.
An energy efficient design
Since October 2014, Novus’ team of operatives have been working to ensure that the property meets the energy efficient requirements of its owners.
By applying Passivhaus design principles to the project, the team hope to achieve a 100% improvement over the target emission rate of the building regulations.
With the aim of completing their work by May, Novus’ team will be installing triple glazed windows and insulation with advanced thermal properties.
They have worked to ensure that the same level of air tightness and insulation is achieved throughout the entirety of both buildings.
They will also be supplying the property with a nine metre lift and slide triple glazed door.
Underfloor heating, solar panels and an air source heat pump have been specified to improve the property’s energy efficiency.
A mechanical heat vent has also been supplied for heat recovery.
