The historic rooms in Rimini’s Palazzo Spina have recently been converted to accommodate the Augeo Art Space, a unique concept which blends contemporary art with wellbeing and spirituality.
Designed by Yasmine Mahmoudieh, the space is dedicated to inner growth, personal enrichment and meditation.
Comprising an art gallery, fitness area, spa and a massage and treatment area, it will play host to exclusive events for guests from across the world.
The entrance to the gallery has been sculpted from HI-MACS. Beginning on the right-hand side, the functional sculpture has been fitted to conceal the imperfections of the original structure.
It then transforms into a seating area, which runs across the perimeter of the room before morphing into a bar and reception area.
The thermoplastic capability of the HI-MACS was fundamental to the success of the project. The material is able to take any shape, allowing designers free reign.
HI-MACS shows no signs of any joins, meaning that it is possible to create the illusion of a single structure with a monolithic effect.
The white surfaces will be used as screens for digital art projects, whilst specks of light will be placed to pinpoint the works on display whilst illuminating the white walls and making the rooms appear lighter and wider.
Behind the reception area, a staircase leads to the rooms on the lower floor, divided between the massage and treatment area, the fitness area and the spa.
The spa, which can be accessed via an additional separate entrance, stretches across the entirety of the lower floor.
Darker shades have been used to highlight the contrast between the spa and the gallery, with large slabs of black stone giving a contemporary look.
The lighting is soft and indirect to help the guests relax without tiring their eyes, whilst the angular lines of the walls and dividers define the spaces.
Dornbracht has also contributed to the project by supplying its ATT Vertical Shower modular system for installation.
The system provides three different pre-set scenarios (Balancing, Energising and De-Stressing), which have been designed to enhance the psychological well-being of the user.
It does this by acting on body, mind and soul; the three dimensions of man.
RainSky E, a rain shower electronic system, aids this process by combining water, mist, light and scent to represent the natural world.
