After being bought by the Cairn Hotel Group, the Crowne Plaza, Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire has experienced a complete refurbishment.
Turn Key, the air conditioning contractors for the project, installed a Mitsubishi Electric City Multi heat recovery system to ventilate the new establishment.
EN378 legislation, which restricts the use of refrigerants in hotels, states that leak detection equipment should be provided if, in the event that the systems refrigerant should leak into a room, a concentration of 0.44kg/m3 could be exceeded.
With this in mind, Turn Key Air Conditioning and Mitsubishi Electric Value Added Reseller (VAR) PACAIR designed the hotels new air conditioning system to include the minimum amount of refrigerant in each bedroom.
This ensured that it conformed with EN378 and eradicated the need for leak detection equipment.
PACAIR helped ensure that the system had a modular design to minimise disturbance and enable the hotel to continue with its business during the refurbishment.
PACAIR also advised on the installation of a Melcotel hotel control system to link each room with Ving cards. This feature disables the systems from operating when they are left unoccupied, making them more energy efficient.
City Multi ceiling cassettes are also being installed in all of the hotels public areas whilst Lossnay mechanical ventilations are being used to increase the amount of fresh air in the building.
