ESOS is a government led initiative designed to monitor the energy efficiency and energy usage of organisations, with a mandatory requirement in place for businesses to carry out an audit every four years if they employ at least 250 members of staff or have an annual turnover in excess of 50 million and an annual balance sheet in excess of 43 million.
The ESOS Certification Scheme provides assessors with an opportunity to implement energy saving measures across businesses with help and advice from Stroma.
To apply for the ESOS scheme, assessors must have a minimum of two years of professional energy assessment and energy audit experience relevant to PAS 51215.
Existing and new members will undergo comprehensive assessments, as well as a two-day Energy Audit Training programme to learn more about the BS EN 16247 audit methodology and lifecycle cost analysis.
Candidates who successfully complete the requirements will be added to Stroma’s ESOS Lead Energy Assessor Register and will be free to provide assessment services to the marketplace.
Stroma provides services to professionals on Green Deal and Energy Assessments, providing certification, training and software to over 50% of the existing assessor market.
ESOS audits can only be undertaken by a qualified ESOS Lead Energy Assessor and qualifying organisations must carry out assessments and notify the Environment Agency by 5th December 2015.
The Environment Agency will provide information about the online notification system by the end of 2014 and when services will be available.
Organisations do not need to pre-register or inform the Environment Agency that they qualify.
