Expected to be completed later this year, the facility incorporates a steep ramp for refuse vehicles to use, enabling them to transfer waste to the incinerator.
The ramp heating system has been specified and installed at the new facility
Heat Mat’s high Wattage ramp heating cables were specified for installation under a 210mm concrete and reinforcement mesh slab; they were deemed more appropriate for the project than trace heating cables.
With stable power requirements, the Constant-Wattage cables were fitted with 10m long cold tail connections.
Dual-zone frost protection thermostats will work to control the cables, whilst external sensors will constantly measure moisture levels and air and ground temperature.
These protective measures are taken to ensure that the system operates at an energy efficient level.
Heat Mat’s ramp heating solution will allow the refuse vehicles to reach the facility all year round, without snow or ice slowing them down or preventing them access.
The company has also supplied a slab heating system to the facility’s reception hall entrance to enable year-round access.
