Plywood column casings help to create a sixth form social space

The plywood column casings were finished in a ‘cactus green’ coloured laminate to match the building’s design

Farnborough Sixth Form College is home to ‘The Greenhouse’, a purpose-built area that has been developed as a social space for its students

With large areas of glass and a light interior, the building provides a bright environment suitable for both work and relaxation.

Its design incorporates Encasement’s rectangular Quadra plywood column casings, which have been finished in a ‘cactus green’ coloured laminate.

The casings cover each of the building’s structural steel columns, which stand at almost 3,000mm high.

They have been manufactured from durable plywood, which is 8mm thick, and pre-formed into the final dimensions of 220mm x 400mm.

The green Polyrey C049 bonded laminated finish has been developed to resist the damage caused in highly-populated areas.

A grey skirting collar has also been used to add contrast to the design whilst matching infill strips have been added to give the vertical joints a uniformed finish.
