Charcon offers BIM-enabled commercial hard landscaping products

  • 15 Jul 2015

In 2011, the Government proposed an industry-wide adoption of BIM technology.

The initiative was designed to promote sector modernisation across all publicly funded projects; it also aimed to reduce capital costs and carbon consumption.

By June 2016, all Government-funded projects must be conceived, designed, specified, built, maintained and even demolished using BIM technology as a source of information sharing.

Beating the deadline

The Charcon range has been delivered to the landscaping sector BIM-enabled

Almost a year ahead of the deadline, Charcon’s range of commercial hard landscaping products have been made available for those who have adopted BIM technology early.

With a total of 206 BIM-enabled commercial landscaping materials under its wing, Charcon now has the largest BIM-enabled product offering in its sector.

Getting ready for BIM

BIM documentation for the products can be downloaded via Aggregate Industries’ website. The company’s technical team can also prepare bespoke files for customers who require material outside of the initial offering.

Additionally, Colour Urban Design’s Henry Fenby-Taylor – who is the appointed author of ‘BIM for Landscape’ – has been training the Charcon division to ensure that the team are BIM ready themselves.

The training will ensure that everyone from top-line management down has an understanding of BIM, including its timescales, goals and benefits.

This knowledge can then be passed on to its partners in the supply chain.
