The stair tower of the apartment, which is situated on Westminster Place in the city centre, required a material which was attractive to look at and durable against weather straining.
Ashford based cladding specialist, Teiko Ltd, was contracted to work on the project, predominantly installing Cembonit in Flint, with around 10% being fitted in Granite to produce a stylish feature piece.
A range of eleven pastel coloured impact resistance boards with a matt finish can be specified, with autoclaved cladding sheets available in eleven through coloured options with an optically level surface and faint directional grain.
Cembonit undergoes an impregnation treatment during the manufacturing process which protects it against water staining and dirt, ensuring that the façade retains its original appearance in dry and wet weather conditions.
With a clad 0 fibre rating to BS 476 and part 6 and a class 1 rating to BS 476 part 7, Cembonit is ideal for overcladding rainscreen applications.
Dispersed spherules of cement in Cembonit’s surface and variations of shade from sheet to sheet enable a natural looking façade to be created, with the sheets suitable for a range of applications such as weatherboarding, windows, fascias, balconies and prefabricated façade elements.
The apartment block is just a short distance away from the designer shopping outlet, Gunwharf Quays and the Historic Dockyards.
New privacy screens on the balconies and replacement panels for the communal walkway have been incorporated into the property as part of the refurbishment work.
