Over 200 fibre cement corrugated sheets have been fitted on the walls and roof of Michael Montegomery’s energy efficient self-build
In 2012, Michael Montgomery began work on his self-build project; after years of work, the upstairs and landscaping is currently being finalised.
Michael decided to use fibre cement corrugated sheeting on the walls and roof of his renewable energy property.
Unlike metal sheeting, fibre cement corrugated sheeting is rust resistant and does not make any noise in the rain.
Considering this, Michael specified 210 black sheets of Cembrit B5 corrugated sheeting.
With a deeper corrugation than the traditional 3 inch profile corrugated sheeting, Cembrit B5 can be used to lower a pitch with smaller overlaps.
It is available in 14 different lengths, which are all approximately 40% wider than the product’s previous design to provide better coverage.
Whilst complimenting the rural Irish surroundings of Michael’s countryside property, Cembrit B5 is also able to accommodate the installation of solar thermal panels.
This made it suitable for the economical self-build, which has been designed to use solar panels, a heat recovery unit and a wood burning stove to generate renewable energy.
