The conference, which will be hosted at Birmingham’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, is set to take place on June 11th 2015.
Sponsored by Invista, the manufacturers of ANTRON Carpet Fibres, the conference will explore the developments that have occurred within the carpet recycling industry.
It will be opened by Ape’s Mark Shayler, who will urge attendees to re-think waste and sustainability.
The concept will then be further explored by the Head of Innovation at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Ken Webster, who will go on to examine its practical implementation.
Vanessa Brady will present on interior design for longevity and sustainability whilst Russell Owens from the Welsh Government will explain how councils have collaborated on recycling.
The conference will also feature international speakers, such as Anthony Cline from Carpet America Recycling Effort (CARE) and CarpetCycle’s Sean Ragiel, who will share his thoughts on how to run a carpet recycling business.
The one-day event will be preceded by an Awards Dinner on June 10th 2015.
The dinner will give attendees the opportunity to network whilst Recycler of the Year, Reuse Member of the Year, Take Back Partner of the Year and Recycling Champion will be named at an awards ceremony.
Organisations and individuals are being encouraged to submit entries by 30th April in order to be considered for the titles.
By presenting awards, Carpet Recycling UK hopes to congratulate companies for collaborating in 2014 to divert around 113,000 tonnes of waste carpet from landfill.
After achieving this 28% diversion from landfill, the company is confident that it will reach its 60% diversion target by 2020.
