Effective ventilation for multi-million pound football academy

  • 2 Jul 2015

Sitting on 80 acres, Manchester’s City Football Academy is located in close proximity to the Club’s stadium.

The Manchester City Football Academy cost a grand total of £87.9m to build

With a low carbon target, it has reached the gold standard under LEED guidelines.

Efficient ventilation

The complex’s sustainable ventilation grilles and diffusers were manufactured and supplied by Gilberts of Blackpool.

Gilberts’ products have been fitted in both the ceilings and floors of the Central Training Facility, the NW Development Building and the Facilities Management Building.

The company’s standard GRC circular multi-cone diffusers, GFSS floor swirl diffusers and HGH high speed sports & gymnasium grilles have all been included.

In addition to this, a number of bespoke units have been installed; combined, the components provide a quiet distribution of air throughout the academy.

The classrooms, staff offices, gym, injury and rehabilitation centre and changing rooms have all benefited from Gilberts’ ventilation products

Innovative air distribution

With a contemporary, aerodynamic design, Gilberts’ GRC circular diffusers allow for an omni directional discharge.

This omits an even distribution of air at a high volume and noise levels are kept as low as ?40dB.

The GFSS floor swirl diffusers boast a stainless steel micro slot pattern design, offering a swirl displacement airflow through the floors, free from draught.

The innovative slot pattern has been purpose-designed to reduce the risk of heel penetration or snagging.

Finally, the company’s HGH sports & gymnasium grilles have been developed using strong steel.

The grilles offer a 37% free area with design features in line with SportEngland guidelines.
