Armaflex Rail SD has been designed to protect railway passenger vehicles against fire
A recently introduced European Standard, EN 45545-2, sets high fire protection requirements for railway vehicles.
It is concerned with keeping the passengers and staff of these vehicles as safe as possible.
Armacell’s Armaflex Rail SD has been developed to provide protection for the railway vehicles in question.
Having achieved HL 2 according to EN 45545-2, the material can be fitted on refrigerant pipework and air-ducts.
Its elastomeric foam has good fire properties and low smoke density. It is also a self-extinguishing material, which does not propagate fire.
With a closed-cell structure, Armaflex Rail SD also protects pipes against energy losses and condensation.
The insulation material is also able to protect against condensation, energy losses and harmful microbes
The entire insulation thickness incorporates a vapour barrier, which eliminates the need for a separate barrier to protect against penetrative moisture.
The material is integrated Microban technology, which provides additional protection against unwanted microbes, such as bacteria and mould.
These anti-microbial additives are manufactured into the material so that they do not wear or wash off.
Armaflex Rail SD is available in a range of thickness.
The flexible nature of the material allows for quick and easy installation, even when complex-shaped fixings are required.
