Russell Galloway tiles combine sustainable benefits of concrete

The council commissioned a Housing Market Assessment in 2012 which found that 368 units of extra care accommodation was required over the next three years as the number of people aged over 75 is expected to double by 2040.

Consisting of 82 purpose built apartments, the £13 million project received £1.14 million investment from the Homes and Communities Agency, as well as £1.1 million from South Staffordshire Council alongside a donation of land for development.

Natural slate look with concrete sustainability

Planners from the council needed a tile combining the sustainable benefits of concrete with the appearance of natural slate, leading to the specification of Russell Galloway tiles.

Roofing contractor, Crosby Roofing installed the Galloway tiles, which are designed to offer a secure and sustainable alternative to interlocking tiles.

People aged 55 plus who require support and care are already settling into the properties since completion in July, with the development replacing an existing home on the site.

The project was delivered by the Birmingham office of Kier Construction, who specialise in delivering projects for the community such as affordable housing, healthcare, education and local government sectors.

Galloway tiles offer the appearance of natural slate with the sustainability of concrete

Concrete roof tiles offer a durable, high strength product that requires minimal maintenance upon installation, with the authentic slate effect roof tile producing a modern, contemporary appearance for properties.

Russell Roof Tiles worked closely alongside Kier Construction to ensure that the tiles were delivered quickly and efficiently and provided an overall professional finish.

Russell Roof Tiles’ manufacturing methods deliver a technically consistent and quality product that is suitable for a whole range of commercial and domestic projects and applications.
