Wales & West Housing’s development is comprised of 40 affordable homes, consisting of 24 one bedroom apartments and 16 two bedroom apartments, costing a total of £3.9m. Around 2500m² of Polyflor flooring was installed by Artisan Flooring of Swansea throughout the development.

Polyflor Secura PUR in Antique Herringbone 2129 at Wales & West Housing’s New Road Court development in Porthcawl, Bridgend.

Authentic natural aesthetic

Polyflor’s Secura PUR flooring was specified in the bold Antique Herringbone 2129 design and installed throughout the apartments.

The Secura range of vinyl sheet flooring replicates the look of natural materials, featuring an in-built herringbone pattern and authentically reproduced wood grain and knots to give a rustic feel in a practical loose lay format.

The cross linked and UV cured polyurethane reinforcement PUR provides an easy to clean surface, designed to prevent stains and scuff marks.

High performance safety flooring

Polysafe safety flooring was fitted in the bathrooms to provide sustainable slip resistance in frequently wet areas.

Polysafe Wood fx PUR in authentic Rustic Oak 3337 was installed in the ground floor apartment bathrooms, whilst Polysafe Wood fx Acoustix PUR was installed in the upper floor apartments – featuring an integrated closed cell foam backing for improved acoustic performance.

These wood effect designs feature virtually imperceptible safety aggregates for slip resistance, developed to last the lifetime of the product.

Polysafe Hydro Evolve in Indus 4251 with its raised emboss for sustainable wet slip resistance in barefoot areas was also installed in some of the ground floor bathrooms where a walk in shower suitable for disabled use have been fitted.

Johann Horton, Development Officer at Wales & West Housing commented: “We are delighted with the finished flooring at New Road Court, as are the residents who have now moved in.

“The wood effect designs in particular really add impact to the interiors. These new homes comply with the Welsh Government Design Quality Requirement (DQR) standards and achieve a minimum Code for Sustainable Homes level 3 .”
