The Celsius 420 range of hot-finished structural steel tubes have been designed to provide weight saving capabilities for faster and cheaper construction
Tata Steel’s Celsius 420 range of hot-finished structural steel tube products are available as circular, elliptical, square and rectangular hollow sections.
The hollow sections have been developed for use in applications where structural performance at minimum weight is required.
They have been manufactured with a uniform grain structure and a low Carbon Equivalent Value (CEV) of 0.45.
Products with a low CEV are better for welding and more cost-effective as their features ensure that they need no additional heat treatment.
Tata Steel’s Celsius 420 products thus have strong weldability.
This means that high-strength structures can be manufactured without fabricators having to change their standard weld procedures.
In addition to possessing strong weldability, the Celsius 420 hollow sections provide a yield strength of 420 MPa.
In comparison with Tata Steel’s Celsius 355 products, the range also offers weight savings of around 17%.
The Celsius 420 range has been certified to BES 6001 with a rating of ‘very good’, along with Tata Steel’s other hot-finished structural steel tube products.
