The church was originally built in the 13th century and has been protected by conservation area covenants.
However, the hard landscaping of village green at its entrance was in need of replacements setts, as the original quarried stone surface had become worn and uneven.
Brett Landscaping’s Alpha Antique paving met the project’s aesthetic requirements, as well as its practical criteria
This causes access issues for wheelchair users, parents and carers with pushchairs, and pedestrians.
It was of utmost importance to the Environment Committee for Sedgefield Town Council that the replacement paving was in-keeping with the surrounding area.
Brett Landscaping visited the site to showcase several different block examples for the team to consider.
The Council’s Environmental Committee approved the use of 430 square metres of Alpha Antique Burnt Oak & Charcoal paving, supported using a mixed pattern of charcoal edging.
Brett provided a full design of the area being repaved, together with appropriate laying details – and also suggested suitable pack quantities to reduce waste and tighten costs.
The project was completed in time for the church’s medieval fair; the paving work was in full use.
