Infra-red beam smoke detectors designed for large interior spaces

  • 16 Mar 2015

FFE’s infra-red beam smoke detectors can provide coverage of large interior areas such as warehouses, exhibition centres, museums and airports

Illumino Ignis, a supplier of fire, safety and disability products, specified FFE’s Fireray infra-red beam smoke detectors as they allow for coverage of a large area at a reduced cost.

The detectors can be installed without access equipments or long cable runs, saving both time and money.

This made them more appealing to the company than fixed-point detector as the infra-red beams can cover the length of the warehouse’s interior.

The Fireray 5000 is motorised and reflective with the ability to auto align.

It combines an infra-red transmitter and receiver within the same unit and operates by projecting a laser beam to a reflective prism; the beam is then returned to the receiver for analysis.

The infra-red beam of a single detector can span up to 100m. For a wider coverage, the system can be installed with two detector heads.
