Galvanising work undertaken at zoo on animal enclosures

  • 28 Nov 2014

South East Galvanizers have been working with Colchester Zoo for five years

The steel is often used to create homes and trap systems for the animals, with the galvanising work playing an important part in protecting the structures against bad weather conditions.

The company has also carried out work on the zoo’s new Bears of the Rising Sun facility, a state-of-the-art enclosure which houses two sun bears names Jo-Jo and Srey Ya.

South East Galvanizers hot-dip galvanised the 12 tonnes steelwork and galvanised the elements for the 10 tonne Elephant Kingdom shelter and poles used to create the leopard enclosure roof which measures 7.5 metres in length.
