Lift and escalator maintenance contract awarded to Stannah

Stannah was awarded the lift and escalator maintenance contract through the KeolisAmey Docklands (KAD)

As part of its new commitment, Stannah will work on a large proportion of the DLR network; the contract currently covers 87 lifts and 26 escalators, including all maintenance work, breakdowns and trap-ins.

Under the multi-million pound contract, which is will be in place for the next 6.6 years, Stannah must carry out oil sampling every 6 months and clean escalator steps every 12 weeks.

The contract also includes all 6 monthly LOLER inspections.

Dilapidation reports are set to identify the repair and replacement works that must be undertaken by Stannah.

Lift refurbishments are already scheduled at Island Garden, Deptford Bridge, Lewisham and Cutty Sark stations.

The contract has been designed to extend the lives of the DLR’s lifts and escalators for an additional 25 years

All maintenance work must be undertaken and completed during the DLR’s non-operational hours, which are between 1am and 5.30am.

The work completed within this time period will monitored to ensure that it meets the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) applied to the contract.

Stannah’s Dartford Service Branch will also oversee day-to-day maintenance requirements and report back with the company’s Network Rail Office to ensure things are running smoothly.
