Arts building renovated with Johnstone’s Trade

Paints from Johnstone’s Trade were specified for use in the refurbishment of Nottingham Lakeside Art’s D H Lawrence Pavilion

Nottingham Lakeside Arts facility has been built as a multi-arts centre. Located in the East Midlands as part of the University of Nottingham, the centre provides the public with music, theatre, dance, literature and comedy performances all year.

In a recent maintenance and redecoration project, Johnstone’s Microbarr Anti-Bacterial Acrylic Matt was used to paint the Pavilion Caf_ and its conjoining food preparation areas.

The product is suitable for use in spaces with hygiene requirements as it makes use of silver ion technology. The paint is thus protected against 150 strains of bacteria and can help keep an environment sanitary.

The CLC group, which redecorated the facility, painted the caf_ in aqua to amplify the amount of light coming into the building.

Contrarily, the theatre was painted in black to ensure minimum reflection from the lights. This shade was chosen to enable the audience to focus its attention on the stage without glare from the lights compromising their viewing experience.

Meanwhile, the hallway outside the theatre has been painted orange to fit in with the palette of colours found elsewhere in the building.

Johnstone’s Endura Super Durable Matt was also used in the facility’s renovation to give the walls a coat that is easy to clean and able to withstand high levels of traffic.

The decorators also used a coat of Johnstone’s Ultra Primer Sealer on the walls to cover the previous finish before re-painting.
