‘Timber in high specification buildings’ best practice guide launched

  • 16 Sep 2014

The publication includes advice on things to take into consideration when selecting timber and is aimed at architects, designers, engineers, project managers, property developers and estate managers wanting to manage risks and control costs.

The literature focuses on three sections – the use of timber in refurbishment, new build and furniture, with information on the carbon benefits of retaining timbers rather than replacing them.

The section on timber furniture outlines the methods typically used when designing and manufacturing high specification wood furniture, identifies the challenges of using timber as a material and provides solutions for designers on how to deliver good results.

The book has been prepared by Senior Technical Consultant, John Williams, and Technical Business Development Manager, Andrew Pitman.
