LG Hausys’ HI-MACS was recently displayed at the 100% Design show at the Olympia in London, showcasing how the acrylic stone can be transformed from exotic, thermoformed curves, to sharp boxy angles and seamless joins.
German studio Coast Office Architecture utilised HI-MACS in its innovative stand, using architectural and furniture design to demonstrate the material’s flexibility.
The futuristic display featured two HI-MACS waves, which rose out of the white floor to give the exhibit a space-age feel. The waves demonstrated how the solid surface material can be used to create a limitless number of three-dimensional shapes.
In contrast, the furniture, which comprised of a reception desk and two colourful benches, used angled geometrical shapes with bold blocks of white, grey, black and pink.
The space was framed by two black reflective walls, and a lightbox using translucent HI-MACS to complete the stand.
As HI-MACS ca be processed without any visible joint lines, the furniture smoothly transitioned between the colours, showing no noticeable seams.
The products flexibility is combed with excellent material properties, as it is durable, non-porous and easy to clean.
HI-MACS can be used in the design of public spaces and even entire façades, in addition to interiors such as kitchens and bathrooms.
