A unique renovation and self-build project has made use of Marley Alutec’s composite aluminium Evoke fascia and soffit system and Aligator Boxer guttering.
Nick Leggett, a chartered surveyor and Partner of NDL Consulting, and his partner Sonja Johnson took on the project to create a home that is both sustainable and aesthetically pleasing.
Whilst the first phase of the contemporary project involved the restoration of an old Methodist chapel in Kent, the second phase was concerned with the construction of Chapel View, an ambitious new build.
The aim of the project was to create two create two properties that complimented each other, whilst both boasting a unique design. Modern style and technologies were blended with traditional architecture for the development.
At 2,000 square feet, Chapel View was constructed with a thermally efficient insulated concrete formwork (ICF) system. The three-storey home, which sits partly below ground, is comprised of sustainable materials; no heating is required and its eco-credentials are undoubtedly impressive.
As for aesthetics, Nick and Sonja decided to combine natural surfaces and traditional materials with clean lines and modern resources.
Marley Alutec’s Evoke fascia and soffit was selected for installation; Nick felt that the system’s square box sections provided the contemporary detail the project needed.
Marley’s Aligator Boxer guttering was also chosen to match the fenestration. Both systems were selected in the same RAL 7016 dark grey shade.
Made from a recycled polyethylene core and an aluminium outerlayer, Marley’s Evoke range offers strength and durability, despite its 4mm thickness and lightweight properties.
The entire system is fully recyclable, whilst the manufacture of the aluminium composite board uses approximately 75% less energy than that is needed to manufacture the equivalent volume in solid aluminium sheet.
In addition to these green credentials, the system boasts a maintenance free life expectancy of at least 50 years.
Manufactured from corrosion-resistant marine grade aluminium, Marley’s Aligator range offers a similar life expectancy.
