The renewable technologies firm (represented by son Matt and father Trevor Bell L-R) received the Award from Martin Fahey

Renewable technologies firm secures environmental award

  • 30 Oct 2015

As a renewable technologies specialist, Abel Environmental Services (AES) has received an environmental award for fitting a low carbon heating system that offers lower emissions and running costs.

Based in Hampshire, the independent business has been trading for over 25 years. It was awarded a Green Gateway Award by Mitsubishi Electric, the creator of the Ecodan range of air source heat pumps that the company supplies.

AES serves the renewable technology market, covering Hampshire, East Sussex, Dorset, Surrey and Wiltshire.

It provides free advice on the design and installation of air to water heat pumps, underfloor heating, air conditioning, LED Lighting products and power generating photovoltaic (PV) panels.

Renewable technologies for domestic market

This impressed Mitsubishi Electric: the company’s sustainable solutions manager, Martin Fahey, feels that AES uses its knowledge of the commercial sector to deliver renewable technologies and impressive customer service to the domestic market.

AES has recently worked to install a cascade heat pump system to a five bedroom house in Alton, for example. Since the project’s completion, the homeowner has significantly reduced their running costs and carbon emissions.

The Ecodan heat pump does not rely on oil heating, which also means that the homeowner no longer has to worry about the price of fuel.

As well as a trophy, AES received a £1,000 donation from Mitsubishi Electric; it will split its prize money between Cancer Research and the Alzheimer’s Society.
