Senior's aluminium window system at the Hampton by Hilton hotel

Aluminium window system used for Newcastle hotel refurbishment

  • 5 Nov 2015

A thermally efficient aluminium window system from Senior Architectural Systems has been installed at the new Hampton by Hilton hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Installed by Visual Concept Ltd, the SPW 300 windows were specified for the new hotel which has been created following the complete refurbishment and conversion of a 1970s office block formerly known as Baron House.

The SPW 300 aluminium system replaced all existing windows in the building, offering the desired high level of thermal performance and visually appealing slim sightlines.

The system incorporates solar glass to help minimise the absorption of heat and glare from the sun, allowing for an even greater level of energy-efficiency and comfort.

Flexible aluminium window system

Located in the heart of Newcastle city centre, it was also particularly important that the new aluminium window system offered exceptional sound-proofing performance, which was achieved through the use of high quality acoustic glass.

The system’s design flexibility also made it an ideal choice for the refurbishment. All spandrel glazing was specified in a special pearl RAL 1035, with the window frames coloured in a complementary special gold RAL 1036.

The building’s fenestration was further enhanced by the application of Senior’s thermally efficient SCW+ curtain walling to the ground floor level.

Visual Concept Ltd Director, Paul Price, commented on the project: “As a local company, we are proud to have been involved in the creation of the new Hampton by Hilton in Newcastle. It was a challenging contract, with various technical and environmental targets that had to be met and we are extremely happy with how Senior’s products performed on this job.”

Designed by architects Studio Stuart Palmer Ltd, the 160-room hotel is the first under the Hampton by Hilton brand to be established in Newcastle.
